CLINDASEPTIN contains clindamycin hydrochloride, a lincosamide antibiotic. It treats infected wounds, abscesses, and oral/dental infections in dogs caused by sensitive strains of Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Bacteroides, Fusobacterium necrophorum, and Clostridium perfringens. It is also indicated for osteomyelitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus.
Clindamycin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, stopping the growth of susceptible bacteria. The product is formulated as blue capsules for oral administration.
Efficacy is based on sensitivity testing. Use only when bacterial sensitivity is confirmed. Prolonged therapy over one month requires periodic liver and kidney function tests and blood counts.
