CHANHOLD prevents heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis when given monthly. It can be safely given to dogs infected with adult heartworms, but dogs six months or older in vector areas should be tested for adult heartworms before starting treatment. Periodic testing for adult heartworm infection is recommended even with monthly treatment. This product is not effective against adult D. immitis worms.
CHANHOLD treats ear mite infestations caused by Otodectes cynotis. It also treats adult roundworms (Toxocara cati) and intestinal hookworms in cats. For dogs, it treats sarcoptic mange and controls tick infestations. The product is a clear, colorless to yellow solution applied to the skin on the back of the neck.
