CHANHOLD 45 mg is a spot-on solution for cats containing selamectin. It treats and prevents flea infestations (Ctenocephalides spp.) through adulticidal, larvicidal, and ovicidal activity. One dose protects for one month, with ovicidal effects lasting three weeks. It also prevents heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis when given monthly.
The product treats ear mites (Otodectes cynotis), lice (Felicola subrostratus), adult roundworms (Toxocara cati), and adult hookworms. Monthly treatment in pregnant and lactating cats helps reduce flea populations in the litter up to seven weeks of age. It can be used as part of a strategic flea allergy dermatitis program.
Selamectin works by interfering with parasite nerve transmission, causing paralysis and death. The solution is applied topically to the skin on the back of the neck.
