Effective 24 hour antiemetic for travel sickness and chemotherapy induced vomiting.
CERENIA is an antiemetic medication from Pfizer containing maropitant, a neurokinin 1 (NK1) receptor antagonist. It is indicated to prevent and treat vomiting in dogs, including vomiting induced by chemotherapy and motion sickness during travel.
Maropitant blocks the action of substance P, a key neurotransmitter in the vomiting process. This makes CERENIA effective against nausea and vomiting of central and peripheral origin.
The antiemetic effect persists for 24 hours. It is available in 16 mg, 24 mg, 60 mg, and 160 mg tablets to suit dogs of all sizes.
Active ingredient: Maropitant. Each tablet contains 60 mg of maropitant.
CERENIA is indicated for the prevention and treatment of vomiting in dogs, including vomiting caused by chemotherapy and motion sickness. It is intended for oral use in dogs.
For prevention and treatment of vomiting: 2 mg of maropitant per kg of body weight once daily. For prevention of motion sickness: 8 mg of maropitant per kg of body weight once daily. Administer orally at least one hour before the event that may cause vomiting. Treatment duration: up to 5 consecutive days.
