BAYTRIL 5% solution is an antibacterial and antimycoplasma injectable for cattle, pigs, and dogs. It treats bacterial diseases of the respiratory and digestive tracts, urinary tract infections, skin infections, and wound infections. In pigs, it also treats colibacillary diarrhea, septicemia, and MMA syndrome in sows.
The active ingredient enrofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone that kills bacteria by inhibiting DNA gyrase. It provides a broad spectrum of bactericidal activity and antimycoplasma action. The product is manufactured by Bayer.
For dogs and calves, administer subcutaneously. For pigs, administer intramuscularly in the neck. Dosing varies by species and condition, with treatment duration typically 3 to 5 consecutive days. If no clinical improvement is seen within 3 days, reconsider treatment.
Each ml contains 50 mg of enrofloxacin.
For cattle (calves): bacterial diseases of the respiratory and digestive tract caused by E. coli, Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., and Mycoplasma bovis, as well as secondary bacterial infections. For pigs: bacterial digestive tract diseases (E. coli) including diarrhea and colibacillary septicemia, MMA syndrome in sows, and respiratory tract diseases caused by Pasteurella multocida or Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae. For dogs: infections of the respiratory and digestive organs, urinary tract, skin, and wound infections.
Pigs: 2.5 mg enrofloxacin per kg body weight per day (1 ml per 20 kg) for 3 consecutive days. For MMA syndrome in sows: 1 to 2 consecutive days. Do not inject more than 2.5 ml per injection site. Cattle (calves): 2.5 mg enrofloxacin per kg body weight per day (1 ml per 20 kg) for 5 consecutive days. Do not inject more than 10 ml per injection site. Dogs: 5 mg enrofloxacin per kg body weight per day (1 ml per 10 kg) for 5 consecutive days. For chronic or severe conditions, treatment may be extended up to 10 days. If no clinical improvement within 3 days, reconsider treatment.
