Controls chronic atopic and allergic dermatitis in cats and dogs.
Atopica 100 mg/ml Oral Solution is an immunosuppressive dermatological treatment for the control of chronic atopic and allergic dermatitis in cats and dogs. The active substance, ciclosporin, modulates the immune response to reduce skin inflammation and pruritus.
In cats, it treats symptomatic chronic allergic dermatitis. In dogs, it treats clinical manifestations of chronic atopic dermatitis. The solution is a clear liquid ranging from yellow to brownish.
Efficacy data from clinical use show initial improvement within 4 to 8 weeks for cats and within 4 weeks for dogs. Dosing is adjusted based on clinical response, with maintenance frequency reduced to alternate days or every 3 to 4 days.
Each ml contains ciclosporin 100 mg as the active substance. Excipients include all-rac-alpha-tocopherol (E 307) 1.05 mg, ethanol anhydrous (E 1510) 94.70 mg, and propylene glycol (E 1520) 94.70 mg.
For cats: symptomatic treatment of chronic allergic dermatitis. For dogs: treatment of clinical manifestations of chronic atopic dermatitis.
Cats: initial dose 7 mg/kg (0.07 ml/kg) daily until clinical improvement (4 to 8 weeks), then reduce to alternate days or every 3 to 4 days. Administer mixed with a small amount of food after a fasting period. Dogs: initial dose 5 mg/kg (0.05 ml/kg) daily until improvement (usually within 4 weeks), then reduce to alternate days. Administer orally at least 2 hours before or after meals. Use the dispensing syringe directly into the throat to ensure full dose.
