Endectocide antiparasitic paste for the treatment of internal and external parasites in horses.
ALVERIN is an endectocide oral paste containing ivermectin 18.7 mg per gram, indicated for the treatment of parasitic infestations in horses. It targets large and small strongyles, Dictyocaulus arnfieldi, Oxyuris equi, Parascaris equorum, Trichostrongylus axei, Habronema muscae, Onchocerca spp., Strongyloides westeri, and oral and gastric stages of Gasterophilus spp.
Ivermectin acts as a GABA agonist, increasing the effects of GABA in the parasite's nervous system, leading to paralysis and death. This mechanism provides broad-spectrum efficacy against nematodes and arthropods.
In horses with high Onchocerca microfilaria burdens, treatment may cause transient edema and pruritus due to massive microfilaria destruction. These signs resolve within a few days, and symptomatic treatment is advisable if needed.
