Treats and prevents flea infestations, ear mites, and multiple internal parasites in one application.
ADVOCATE is a spot-on solution for dogs weighing 4 to 10 kg. It treats and prevents flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis), ear mites (Otodectes cynotis), and circulating microfilariae (Dirofilaria immitis). It also prevents heartworm disease (L3/L4 larvae of Dirofilaria immitis), subcutaneous dirofilariosis (L3 larvae of Dirofilaria repens), spirocercosis (Spirocerca lupi), and angiostrongylosis (L4 larvae and immature adults of Angiostrongylus vasorum). The product reduces circulating microfilariae of Dirofilaria repens and treats gastrointestinal nematode infections (Toxocara canis, Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala, Toxascaris leonina, Trichuris vulpis). It also treats biting lice (Trichodectes canis), sarcoptic mange (Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis), demodicosis (Demodex canis), and infections by Angiostrongylus vasorum and Crenosoma vulpis. It provides strategic treatment of flea allergy dermatitis (FAD).
Imidacloprid is an ectoparasiticide from the chloronicotinyl group. It is effective against larval and adult fleas and has minimal pharmacological activity in mammals. It spreads rapidly over the animal's skin within the first day of application. Moxidectin is a parasiticide from the milbemycin family (macrocyclic lactone). It is active against many internal and external parasites, including larval stages (L3, L4) of Dirofilaria immitis and gastrointestinal nematodes. It is absorbed through the skin and distributed systemically, reaching peak plasma concentrations in dogs approximately 4 to 9 days after application. It is eliminated slowly from plasma.
Do not administer any other macrocyclic lactone antiparasitic during treatment with ADVOCATE. Do not use in puppies under 7 weeks of age. Do not use in animals with hypersensitivity to the active substances or any excipients. Do not use in canaries. Temporary itching may occur. Rarely, greasy hair, redness, or vomiting may occur; these resolve without treatment. Rare local hypersensitivity reactions may occur. If the animal licks the application site, transient neurological signs may rarely be observed. The medication has a bitter taste.
Each pipette contains 10% imidacloprid and 2.5% moxidectin, plus butylhydroxytoluene.
