ADVOCATE spot-on solution is indicated for cats suffering from, or at risk of, mixed parasitic infections. It treats and prevents flea infestation (Ctenocephalides felis), treats ear mite infestation (Otodectes cynotis), treats notoedric mange (Notoedres cati), prevents heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis L3 and L4 larvae), and treats gastrointestinal nematode infections (L4 larvae, immature and adult Toxocara cati and Ancylostoma tubaeforme). The product can also be used as part of a treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis (FAD).
The mechanism of action involves the active ingredients imidacloprid and moxidectin. Imidacloprid targets the nervous system of fleas, causing rapid death. Moxidectin acts against nematodes and mites by interfering with chloride ion channels, leading to paralysis and death of the parasites.
Efficacy data from clinical studies demonstrate high effectiveness against targeted parasites. The product provides monthly protection and treatment when applied topically as directed.
Each 0.8 ml pipette contains 80 mg imidacloprid and 16 mg moxidectin.
